Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. squeals/screams really high pitch and loud if he wants something, something is taken away, and he just loves to hear him self
2. when we pick him up sometimes he will kick his feet in frustration
3. his temper is increasing...yikes!
4. oh my goodness this child is friendly...but he is weird.
he will go up to anyone and introduce himself and make himself comfortable on their lap
(for example: church-crawled under the pew and a nice grandma picked him right up and they exchanged smiles and cuddles...does not freak out or crawls under the teachers desk in Sunday school and smiles at everyone)
BUT!
when I drop him off at the Y he totally freaks out and starts crying hysterically!
I am starting to think he is only friendly when Mom or Dad is around and he knows/or thinks they are not going anywhere.
5. is starting to grow a mullet, at least it is something
6. has taken a total of 2 steps on his own
didn't take any pictures this week, so here is an old one
it just isn't fair that they grow up so fast

By popular request (ok, it is only Holly that asked),
here are some (like a hundred) of my
FAVORITE
Family Photos.
Austin couldn't have been more cooperative.

A big shout out to our photographer, Nicole!
She did a fantastic job.
My Mom who helped with the wardrobe choices.
And my friend Nellena for letting me borrow her stylish jewelry and shoes!

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. will pick up food/binkie with his mouth. Gary tried to teach him to use his hands one night and it took a while for him to get it. He got very frustrated. I blame this one me...I don't like his hands or face messy so I just always place things in his mouth for him.
2. has a biting habit that we are not sure exactly what to do about. He has bitten Gary and I hard a few times.
3. will not leave my shoes and umbrella alone. I just welcome people into my door with a pile of shoes:)

4. feeding this child adult food is a patience building exercise for me. he has not eaten anything for me except a cheese quesdila. He just loves his baby food!
5. on Monday we went to the doctor for an ear check and the little buddy has another ear infection! so we are on antibiotics again:(
6. we went to the BYU vs. Iowa State game on Saturday and from here on out Austin is not invited to another game until he can sit the whole time. Oh my word was it scary! He just wanted to crawl and than that turned into being a cranky, sleepy baby.
7. just started saying ma ma...and we are pretty sure he knows what it means...melts my heart!

Thanksgiving

Gary had all of the normal Thanksgiving days off so we decided to take advantage of the time.
My brother, Kyle and his wife Jenny live in Oklahoma and they bought a house and a dog which we no one has seen yet from the family.
So we graced them with our presents and had a blast.
Austin adjusted to his new surroundings just fine.
He just had to warm up to Sandy and that didn't take too long.
When Sandy was outside Austin would just sit by the sliding glass door and point and squeal over her.
The last night we were there we actually let the two interact and Sandy was well behaved.

We arrived Tuesday night so we could have as much time with them as possible.
Wednesday Jenny and I headed off to Walmart to buy all the last minute Thanksgiving dinner preparations.
The boys played fifa(drank Pepsi) and we had delicious greasy tacos(Benham favorite) for dinner with Pepsi.
Thursday we slept and had a tasty meal.
Tons of turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, pie, and Pepsi!
everyone working to get the meal ready
Later that night Jenny and I did black Friday shopping.
First time for me!
And it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.
We were home by 11pm because all stores opened early.
Friday we did more shopping, eating, Pepsi drinking, and the girls hit up Twilight and the boys saw Bond.
Saturday more eating, sleeping, watching football, and just enjoying the time together while drinking Pepsi(do you see a trend here).
That night we went to Freddy's(Midwest steak burger chain) and it was great.
Sunday we headed home:( Austin did great on the rides, better than expected...just cannot wait until he can sit forward facing!
Thanks Kyle and Jenny for hosting us! Your house is beautiful and Sandy is fun(but I still do not want a pet).

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. the week before Thanksgiving was a nightmare! Austin had been acting cranky and I just blamed it on teething(which he was) but by Saturday he just was not right. I spent the whole day trying to comfort a child who couldn't be comforted, it was the worst thing in the world. We were both sobbing by the time Dad came home. We took him to instacare and he had a double infection. By Monday my child was back! Yipee!
2. one tooth up top and one tooth down low broke through!
3. every time he coughs it always ends in a sneeze
4. he cries every time we walk inside and points to the door to go out

 5. he loves dogs but from a distance- well after spending several days with Kyle and Jenny's dog he can handle them being around but still doesn't like it when they kiss or touch him
6. I have decided to start introducing him to big kid food and hopefully by the time he is one(January) he will not be eating baby food anymore. It's not that he can't eat it, it is more me the mom being lazy about it and not thinking ahead of time.

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. Grandma and Grandpa Allen came and he warmed up to them like they were old friends. He loved all the attention he received.
2. Super adorable lately- his personality is just exploding
3.getting nervous about our 8.5 hour Thanksgiving ride- the dang car seat is his worst and only enemy
4. has stood for like a second a few times without holding on to anything
5. one night this past week he woke up screaming bloody murder and wouldn't calm down at all(even after offering him a bottle)-we think it might have been teething and he was in pain- so Gary and him cuddled on the couch for 3 hours...poor little buddy

And since I never got around to posting about Halloween-here is photo from the trunk or treat.

PS: these photos are getting harder to take because he just wants to go crazy on the couch and wrestle with the bear....

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. was a Jayhawk for Halloween. I started thinking of his Halloween costume back at the end of August because now that I have a child it makes the holidays and celebrating ten times better. So I wanted him to be original and for his first Halloween I wanted to go big. I thought and thought and googled costumes like crazy. Then it finally hit me! He needs to be a Jayhawk! When I was pregnant and after I would refer Austin as baby Jayhawk to my family. I found the costume, I swallowed the price and ta-da! We have a Jayhawk!
unfortunately Austin wasn't as excited as we were for him to be a Jayhawk- he hated the top and tried all the time to take it off
2. took family photos and he was great for a 9 month old- as least that is what I told everyone- well we got them back and he is the best looking in all of them!
there will be a separate family photo post but not until Christmas
 3. don't know why I haven't mentioned this before but Austin and I are taking a baby swim class. He really loves it but since it has been so cold lately he shivers the whole time but it doesn't seem to bother him. It is pretty cute because his jaw moves non stop and he makes the shiver noise to go with it.
4. he hasn't been as bad with carseat, diaper change, and high chair lately! Oh holy goodness!
5. weekly trouble maker photos

 6. loves balloons
 7. hates green beans with a passion. Before I took this photo he was crying up a storm and throwing a fit! And then he smeared it all over his face and I couldn't stop laughing so he decided to be happy for .1 second

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. why haven't I put him on a swing at the park until now? HE LOVED IT! he had such a cheesy grin the whole time and why didn't I have my camera!
2. since I can't do anything alone I make him do the chores with me- so he helped destroyed my folded laundry but he absolutely loved me carrying him around in the basket and throwing the clothes out

3. quiet for too long..........

4. will push his lips into a giant kiss face when he eats something sometimes- so funny
5. will point at us- for example: when Gary gets him at of bed and they come to wake me up they stand at the end of the bed and Gary will call "momma" and then Austin will point at me
6. was a HUGE hit with the Benham grandparents and Aunts this past week. We sure do miss them already and we can't wait until Christmas.
Austin was so exhausted from our weekend that he fell asleep while Beth fed him
7. Gary and I heard this horrible noise coming from Austin's mouth one night and it sounded kinda like he had something in there that shouldn't be...well not the case just 2 new teeth that he was grinding! He cut the 2 up top but on one side...so he will have a lopsided smile:)
8. developed this huge cheesy grin- it just melts my heart how cute it is
9. had his 9 month check up
34% weight
95% height
we have a very tall and slender boy on our hands
10. everyone comments about how expressive and friendly he is for only being 9 months
11. and lets not forget he pulled the fire alarm at church on Sunday- someone wasn't paying attention while he was holding HIS child :):):):)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. fell down our friend's stairs and face planted and had a nice goose egg- I am positive I won mother of the year for that- broke my heart
2. scooting is a thing in the past :( I am happy he can crawl and get around better but the scoot was his signature move that everyone loved how cute it was and always commented on it...well, it will be missed
3. gives kisses-wet ones- but oh so good
 4. will stick out his tongue
5. can do the Indian chant on his own (move hand over his mouth and yell)
6. controls the game of peek-a-boo...he will cover his face with his blankie and pull it down while we say BOO!
7. The Y workers always comment about how such a great boy he is and that he is so quiet and plays by himself so well. ---Oh Austin, if only you could be that way with your Momma, but I am so happy and proud that you are nice and good for others.
Honestly, he is difficult and he LOVES his mom and can't stand it when I walk away to do anything. But I remind myself daily that he might not always want me so I must love every second of it and I do...most the time ;)
