Update on Gary

I am sorry this blog has turned into a shrine for Austin, but at the same time I'm not. He's what I love talking about so things wont change. He consumes every aspect of our lives for the best.

Since Lone Peak has gotten out of school Gary know longer goes there every afternoon anymore. He is so sad about it. He loved that part of his job and he's sad to know that it has come and gone. Of course there were parts he didn't like about being at a high school from noon until the last practice or game ended for the day but most the time he never complained. As a wife I could tell when I visited that the kids(seriously though, they aren't that much younger then me!) they they liked him and respected him. He also enjoyed the kids and getting to know them. It was also neat to see him interacting with parents- there were times parents would call right when we sat down to eat or sleep(or before we woke up = not happy wife) and Gary would have to talk to them regarding their son or daughter's injury and what to expect. Most the time the parents were very receptive and respectful, but there were a few times they could care less what Gary told them. Those parents would take their child to a doctor to overrule what Gary said was the plan of action before their kid could play and every time the doctor would back up Gary...(parents can be crazy regarding their child and sports!)
There was a particular moment when we were at a game together and a parent came and sat by us. Gary asked who their child was and Gary knew exactly who it was and that the kid had been struggling from arm issues. He tells the father all about what they can do it and what he believes is the problem. You could tell the guy was thinking "who are you to tell me what is wrong with them?". The father then asked what class he was taking in school that taught him this...Gary preceded to tell him that he got his degree in Athletic Training at BYU. The father all of sudden seemed to take Gary seriously- the father thought he was a high school student that was helping out, haha. It is sad to think that Gary was only a working Athletic Trainer for one school year. Honestly, Gary would love to just do that the rest of his life but the pay and lifestyle isn't ideal for our family. He will be a certified ATC as long as he keeps up his CEU's and that should be easy. So since the school year is over Gary now spends all day at the physical therapy clinic, some days are better than others. He still comes home from lunch and plays with Austin and gives me a short break. Also during lunch he spends time on the phone and internet figuring out Med school stuff and our move... and then at night he spends time with us- usually puts Austin to bed and then will go study. He is taking biochemistry online since the school he's going to has it as a pre-req.
Anyway, that's what Gary is up too.

Tuesday Tidbits

new toy! now he just needs to grow into it so he can actually reach the toys
1. I forgot to mention last week that he now tries to sit up by himself. He was sitting in the corner of couch and decided he wanted to sit up and instead he did a somersault but didn't go off the couch.
2. he rolled over on Monday morning and does it frequently! Now if he can just learn how to roll back I wont have to always save him.
3. 4 month apointment was this past week- I HATE SHOTS- he weighs 15.6lbs
4. my sleep training book I order on amazon still hasn't come so right now we are just in limbo. I am also trying to talk myself up for the horrible nights ahead when I decide to go for it...but IT WILL BE WORTH IT, at least that's what I tell myself
5. he went to his first baseball game and lets just say it didn't go well- every time a big play happened and the crowd would cheer/yell he would cry hysterically. He is like that with any loud noise-turn the hair blow dryer on...he cries- sneeze...he cries-drop a dish by accident while doing the dishes...he cries- and so forth

Girl's Trip

to St. George!!
We couldn't go BIG, because we went to New York City last August, so we went small...kind of.
It still included lots of shopping, great food, and fun!
Could we have enough shopping bags?
Targert, Khols, Shoe Carnival, Down East, Urban Outfitters, Gymboree

Austin passed out on the floor from all the shopping.
I am pretty sure he is dreaming of the Man Trip his Dad was on.

Austin in his cute overalls!!!

Twiners! Go Cards!

Our trip couldn't be complete without some Pepsi from our trusted Shell!

Anazai! Their steaks on the rock are delicious!
Food we also indulged in this week was pasta factory, homeade tostados, Great Harvest Bread Co., Krave, Durangos, and Kneaders.
Thanks for the fun weekend Mom...and Dad!
While the boys are away the girls will play...
And we sure did!

Goodbye Uncle Kyle!

Kyle reported to duty in Enid, OK yesterday.
He is off to learn how to fly a fighter jet.
We had to say our goodbyes last week and Austin decided to be sweet and give him cuddles!
Next time we see him Austin could possibly be walking.
I am crossing my fingers that we meet half way in the fall and we all see a Kansas game together but we might have to wait until Christmas (226 days away).
Next week we have to say goodbye to Aunt Jenny, but I know she is dieing to reconnect with Kyle.
The Benham family is spreading out of Utah, and we are next!

Brigham City Temple

We went to Brigham City 2 weekends ago to go visit Gary's parents.
While we were there we had to go see the temple.
It will be dedicated September 23, 2012.
We are sad we are going to be gone, but I am sure we will have a chance to go through it eventually.

We became Mr. and Mrs. Gary Allen
In that short amount of time we have-

had lots of learning moments from each other a.k.a disagreements and compromises
took a ride on the Moonlit Ski Lift every September
served in callings that have stretched us for the better
lived in 2 apartments
saw Jimmer, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, David Archuleta
I learned more about sports, Gary learned more about sewing
both graduated from BYU
got pregnant
Gary got a "real" job
got into medical school
became parents
I quit my job to be home with Austin
been to Walt Disney World, Salt Lake, Vegas, and Park City for our Anniversary
and much, much more...
I am so looking forward for the years to come!
It is just going to keep getting better!

Gary was grilling brawts for dinner.
I hadn't left the house all day.
Austin loves being outside.
So we had a picnic...

in our backyard!!!
Still counts, right?

Tuesday Tidbits

1. he sleeps in his crib now- the first night I thought I'd enjoy it but I couldn't fall asleep because I kept worrying that I'd sleep through his cry... I didn't
2. loves grabbing his feet
3. lately from 5-9pm he has been quite the handful
4. he loves stroller rides- and I love it too because it is great exercise
5. we have been working on his head and neck strength and we are seeing improvements.
6. sometimes when he is on his belly he will push himself forward but his face is down so I am worried he will give himself a carpet burn- I don't let him do it more than twice in a row
