Tuesday Tidbits

1. he stopped doing his "yoy" noise and is back to smacking his lips- I am so glad we caught it on camera- if you want to see what I am talking about go to Gary's fb page
2. the babbling phase has started, just last night he was saying "ma ma ma" and Gary and I both wonder if he knows what he is saying because he only does it when he needs to be saved- it warms my heart...now we are working on "da da da"
3. we bought him a booster seat so now he can sit at the table with us at dinner, it has been our saving grace! We can actually eat and finish our meal without Austin going nuts!
4. don't let this smile fool you! as I mention before Austin loves bath time and he is finally doing some real splashing but he HATES getting dressed, it is a nightmare and I am not quite sure what to do about it because going naked in our house is just not acceptable. By the time I am done torchering him he is completely sobbing and so upset...I am so worried with the more mobile he gets the more naked bum I will see
5. so I thought I'd finally talk about Austin's side pony tail. Many people notice it and asked what it is and like to poke at it. At birth we thought it was an "owey" from delivery, because it looked like a scab. Well, the scab fell off and we noticed no hair was growing there, which would be normal if it was a scar. However, the hair around the scar grows extremely fast and is thicker then the rest of his head. So, being concerned I asked my pediatrician what she thought it was and she sent a picture of it to a dermatologist. Thankfully, it is not cancer and is just nervous tissue that snuck its way out. So Austin has 2 brains and a side pony tail...which maybe one day we will stop cutting it every month and grow it out and braid it :)

Tuesday Tidbits

1. army crawled for the first time
2. met Great Grandma Rai and he was a big hit!
3. rode on his first airplane ride and cried the whole time before and during take off, I had him sucking his binky and that seemed to help with his ears but he still would grab them, well he fell asleep and stayed asleep until we had to get out of seats to get off the plane

4. got 6 month shots and only cried for a couple seconds until I gave him a bottle- funny thing, the kid know the sound of me making a bottle! While he was being entertained by a toy I quickly made a bottle out of his site so I could give it to him right away after shots, well the minute I started shaking it to mix it he started looking everywhere and panting like he does when he sees it...since he couldn't find the bottle he started crying because he knew it was there and I wasn't giving it to him! smart kid
5. weighs 16.5lbs  24%
height 27.25 in    73%
head 17.5 in  80%...know wonder he is smart ;)

At Sonic today (of course!).
Sitting in the indoor area.
Holding Austin, who is being super cute and attracting attention from a lady in her early 40s.
She ask, "how old is he?" - Me, "6 Months"
 "is he your first?"- "Yes"
"Oh yeah, I can tell with that nice cone head he has."- ....................................

something you should never tell a mother of a 6 month old

This past week my family drove down to Arizona to visit my grandmother who is 93 years old.
Austin is her first great grand child and she and him deserved to meet each other.
They were both smitten with each other.
Austin loved her pearl necklace and Great Grandma loved everything about him.
We don't know when we will get a chance to visit her again so we had to take a 4 generation picture.

We really enjoyed our visit and it was good to see and hear that Grandma hasn't lost her sense of humor. She cracks me up with the things that come out of mouth.
While we were there we also did some site seeing.
My oldest brother is moving to Mesa so we went and checked out his new job and take a picture with this beautiful building...

The Arizona sun prevented us from looking our best ;) Austin was the only smart one to look away...
We also had the chance to see the Gilbert Temple from the freeway. It is beautiful and huge! It reminded me so much of the DC Temple about how all of a sudden you are going down the freeway and this beautiful, large building suddenly appears... gorgeous.
It will be dedicated next year!
Our trip to Arizona was short and memorable, and I can't wait to visit again... but maybe next time not in the middle of summer!

Tuesday Tidbits

1. if we give him a large bottle he will be like Tarzan and use his feet to help support it

2. scoots like crazy but his face gets the brunt of it all- he will not scoot on the carpet (I think it hurts his soft baby skin)
3. loves to be at our level of sitting
4. traveled to AZ and was a champ-completely spoiled champ, he got everything he wanted the whole time
5. rode in a shopping cart sitting up for the first time and LOVED IT (he loves being a big boy )- he was always too wobbly before and we tried a couple weeks earlier and he kept tipping over

Life has been busy in the Allen household this month so please bare with us on the lack of posts.

1. SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! THIS DESERVES A POST ALL ON ITS OWN!!!! FIRST TIME! he slept from 10:30pm until 6am. I actually woke up at 5:50am in a panic wondering if my baby was ok.
2. he hasn't slept through the night since :(
3. he can officially roll both ways but doesn't mean he likes too- he still would rather have someone come save him
4. we have caught him sleeping on his side and belly recently
5. we introduced rice cereal and he eats like a champ

6. we are on countdown for ending nursing! bittersweet but I am so ready to be done...maybe next child I will feel differently
7. I think he is teething again- some days I have happy Austin and then days like today I have Beastly Austin
8. people always comment how big my baby is so I am self conscience wondering if that is a nice way of telling me that my baby is fat. He is just Healthy:)
9. he tipped over in his bouncy chair while Gary was taking a shower and Gary didn't even notice because Austin acted like nothing was wrong
10. he loves being surprised, he giggles so hard if out of now where I jump in his face and say boo!
11. he went swimming for a second time and handled things much better, and the water was warmer too
