Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. 2 year molars are coming in!
2. likes watching documentaries on planes
3. got hand, foot, and mouth right before Thanksgiving so we had to stay home.
4. now he has a really bad cold :(
5. loves playing with the busy bags I made last year. His favorite ones are the noodles, beads, and rice.
6. he knows a lot of words but usually I am the only one who can tell what he is saying- so hopefully his annunciation improves
7. we are working at looking for cars before we cross the street
8. will request a plain piece of bread sometimes
9. I am thinking about ending nap time soon- he won't go to bed until 9:30pm now

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. his favorite candy is M&M but he he calls them N&Ns
2. hops all the time, it usually happens when he is excited about something but sometimes he will just hop from one thing to the next
3. does not like structured play- the minute he realizes that you are going to make him play a certain way you lose him so I thought he'd enjoy a tumbling class and I was wrong and he wanted out of there in 10min because he couldn't do what he wanted
4. loves Dumbo! he calls it Bumbo and loves the train and stork
5. he is a tough kid and bonks a lot but doesn't cry or if he does only for a little bit but it you hurt his feelings he remembers
6. found a new place to take my wild kid! It is called Backyard Adventures and they sell their wooden playgrounds and during weekdays they let the public play on them- his favorite playground was then one with a door and tall slide

 7. starting to be able to reason which is so NICE!
8. I am going to start duck taping his diaper to him (or buy onsies) if he doesn't stop putting his hands down his diaper! In the past 2 weeks he has managed to smear poop all over his crib twice! Gross and disgusting!
9. Gary and I are told at least once a day how fast our little boy is from friends and strangers- we know...we are the ones chasing him and trust me, I have big plans to put those little legs to work one day :)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. I received those "looks" last swimming class when Austin wouldn't do anything the teacher wanted him to do. He also will not walk to the slide even though the life guard yells at him and tells me he needs to walk (trust me I am yelling it to and have talked to him a million times about it). I am trying the best to contain my free spirited little boy but the "looks" aren't helpful nor kind. I think about how wild he is and I am just at a complete lost at what to do.
2. I wont even begin to describe our last cooking class- just glad it is over because we never really went anyways since it is right next to the gym with balls.
3. learned the word "clock" and loves to point them out where ever we go
4. starting to understand timeout
5. Halloween was so much fun! He wore his costume to a few houses (enough for me to get a picture) and then wanted it off so he could run from house to house. He was really cute to watch at the door, he picked up picking out his candy and putting it in his bag really fast. Sometimes the people would place the candy in his bag and he didn't like that, he wanted to grab the candy and put it in his bag. Maybe next year he might say trick or treat or thank you but this year Gary and I just repeated it over and over hoping he'd catch on. He always did notice if they had a dog and yelled buh bye to them. Another thing I want to remember is that if the bowl had M&M he'd get so excited and would show us. When we got home he new exactly what you did next:)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. The Lorax is scary to him. The dark parts with the bad boy in the shed talking made Austin shed real tears of fear! I have never seen him like that and his heart was racing a million beats per minute! I could feel it through his chest because he was gripping on to me for dear life! Poor kid is sensitive like his mother.
2. we are doing the crying out method again for bed time- it came out of the blue and now he refuses to go to bed without a fight
3. was giggling with a friend the other day in the car and it was the most precious sound I have ever heard
4. when we leave to go anywhere he must touch the pumpkins on our porch first
5. can finally reach the dead bolt on our front door so I went out and bought a child lock- he is less then impressed
6. he loves to stick his hands down his diaper- weirdo
(no pictures this week, I have been horrible about getting camera out)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. look what he found- now he wont even stand in the cart or the car cart..grocery shopping with him is officially over:)

2. wouldn't wear his Halloween costume for me the first time and I was devastated but then second party we went to he wore it for 10min! That helped lift my spirits because of the hours I had spent on it.
3. has been crying at the Y and wouldn't let me leave nursery... stranger anxiety phase coming back?
4. he also has been waking up every night screaming bloody murder- one night Gary got him and Austin wasn't happy about it and was screaming out for me! He has never done that so I came out and cuddle him up and he fell asleep instantly- Gary's feelings got hurt just a tad
(is it nightmares?)
5. Sacrament meeting must signal in his head that it is time to run wild, we cannot keep him in the pew! No matter what I bring Gary and I cannot contain him. Seriously, there is only word to describe my child and it is wild.

Private

Thinking about it.... this blog has turned into Austin's journal and I think it would be best to keep it from strangers eyes.... I will let anyone who reads this know soon :)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. I signed him up for a tiny chefs class at the Y and Monday was the first day. It had to do with a banana and He could have cared less. I don't know what I am going to do about a kid you won't eat fruit (or veggies), especially when we dipped it  in chocolate and he still wouldn't eat it.
2. Halloween costume is time consuming, he saw a sneak peak of it and then had a melt down since I wouldn't let him play with it.
3. Got a new toy and he loves it. - having a January bday is hard when it is so close next to Christmas... I felt guilty and slightly bored myself that he has nothing new to play with ever!
4. Loves the TRUCK book grandpa and grandma Allen gave him. We read it multiple times a day.
5. He is copying words I say a lot more now... And he also says his friend's name now...Elle Rae

Tuesday tidbit

:Austin:
1. Has been less consistent with nap time. Some days he won't nap, other days he only sleeps a little, and then sometimes I wonder if he is ever going to wake up!
2. Grandpa and Grandma Allen came this past weekend and spoiled the boy rotten! I think he is still trying to get use to just having me around to entertain him.
3. We went to the local pumpkin path and he had a blast. It was really fun and he loved riding the choo choo (tractor). He also enjoyed the corn pit and washing his very own pumpkin!

4. Favorite book at the moment is Go Dog Go
5. Loves watching himself on my phone. I learned this trick from Grandma Allen and have already recorded severely clips of him and used them to keep him entertained and quiet when it is necessary.

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. first time he had an opinion on what he wore- he wanted to wear the choo choo pajamas to bed
And another day I tried putting him in jeans and he wasn't going to let that happen!

2. he will tell you about his day- so if we just got back from the park he will tell dad
"slides"
"ball"
3. DO NOT SAY TREAT unless you really mean it- fruit snacks and nilla cookies do not count!
4. We went and saw the real Thomas the Train and it was one of the best memories I will forever cherish with Austin. I can't even describe how it feels to have a little boy in love with such a fun thing and get to be apart of it.

5. We also went to the zoo and that was really fun! Austin has never been to the zoo and I am not sure he totally got the concept but by far his favorite thing was the cow(long horns) and the choo choo ride.
6. Opened the freaken front door! We are off to buy locks!
7. In and out, in and out.... You better believe he threw the biggest tantrum when I told him no more in and out!

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. likes to color but it usually last 2 minutes
2. loves to play in the car- I give him the keys and he likes to put them in and out...and honk the horn
3. when Dad comes home he just lights up and runs to the door
4. says "ya" to any question you ask
Austin are you poopy? "ya"
Are you hungry? "ya"
Want to go to bed? "ya"
5. kicked and scream and threw the biggest tantrum leaving the Y (he loves the toy trains!)- yes I got looks

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. We are officially done with the binky. I wasn't planning on taking it away any time soon but he kept chewing on them and ruin them that on Wednesday I had had enough! So I threaten to take them away forever and put them in my sock drawer. They are still there. He went to bed that night just fine! He did ask for it when we laid him down and then in the middle of the night he woke up crying for it but fell back to asleep. We almost caved on night 5 when he woke up and would not calm down. However, I didn't think I could handle taking it away again so we decided not to. Naps are going just fine. He did ask for it today when he hurt himself. My heart breaks thinking about it and how that stage of life is over. I loved binkys! I need to throw them away so I don't get reminded every morning that we are done- it has just made the fact that Austin is growing up real.
last picture I ever took with a binky in his mouth :(
 2. The picture above also shows our new hangout place- the library. They have that awesome train set, Lego table, and tons of puppets! We signed up for reading time and let's say Austin just wanted to leave so he could play with the trains:)
3. We taught him his neck and bum. Now we are working on elbow(which he can say clear as day, such an odd word coming from his mouth) and knees. I am not sure he forgot a lot of animal noises but he will never do them for me. We are working on that.
4. I know I have already mentioned his love for saying "buh bye" but he is getting more loud and less shy about it. I already told you how he screams it to me at the Y when I leave to exercise but now he does it all the time! It is really cute but sometimes he should say "Hi". Gary and I took him to the grocery store Saturday and he screamed at the top of his lungs and waved "buh bye" as we checkout. Everyone turns around and smiles and waves back. I don't get the option of being shy with this kid- he is going to force me out of my comfort zone everyday I can tell.
5. Bus-y bus
He loves those bright yellow things! And one day I took him to the elementary school right when school was getting out just so we could 6 bus-y busses:) When he gets so excited about things like this I am just so  in love with having such a true boy!

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. finally kicked the runny nose and cough isn't as bad
2. sad that the pools closed- I have no idea what we are going to do this winter
3. stayed in nursery the whole time without Mom or Dad and had a good time
4. not a big fan of sand in between his toes but loved scooping it into the bucket- hopefully we can change that next year because Raccoon River is such a cool place and that's what we did on Labor Day

5. likes to play in the car with the keys and pretend he is driving- then we play try to get me out and he jumps from one seat to the next and I keep running around the car opening different doors:)
6. we went and saw the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile

Nauvoo in June

Nauvoo:
Gary's brother, Mark and his family, live in Indiana and we wanted to meet up and do something before they moved to Texas. Nauvoo sounded like the easiest and Gary and I hadn't been back there since we were married so we were really looking forward to going. We drove up Friday and came home Sunday after church. We were able to see a few things like the Oxen- it was the highlight of Austin's day, go to a temple session, and visit with family. It was just a really nice weekend that was actually really relaxful. I think a bigger reason was Austin was so easy going and we didn't do any tours that required you stand still for 30min. Maybe one day?- when Austin is older, ha.
making rope

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. he hasn't been crying at the Y anymore and one day he told me "Bye"
2. protesting the car seat again- just wants to play in the car and so I have been avoiding going anywhere by myself these days
This was in the grocery store parking lot- after several failed attempts to get him in his car seat I decided to take a breather. Unfortunately, it took several more times and until we finally left after 20min. He wasn't too happy with me but I can say the same about him.
 3. TANTRUMS- I am at a complete lost and thank goodness for naps or I don't think I could have enough patience.
4. got sick and we are on day 5 of a runny nose and a cough that sounds like it might end in throw up
5. went to the library and checked out some Thomas books- he really likes them
6. Eating is getting worst- right now I am more concerned about calories than content
(sorry if this post sounds negative- you have good weeks and sometimes you have some really bad ones)

Tuesday Tidbits

Our computer arrived today so maybe pictures next week if it is really fixed this time.
:Austin:
1. Thomas the Train is officially all we watch. I try to get him to branch out but he will not have anything to do with that non sense.
2. Traveled to OKC for Uncle Kyle's graduation from pilot school and Abby's Blessing. He was an angel. However, we did throw a tantrum when I wouldn't let him run on those movable walk ways in the airport when we were about to board.
3. I was thanking my lucky stars that our mini van we rented had a DVD player, it saved my rear end.  The first thing I did was go to Walmart and buy a Thomas the Train DVD.
4. He finally let s dog play with him! It was the cutest thin watching him and my brother's dog, Sandy, just play and play together. I couldn't believe how fast he adjusted to her....he has been scared of dogs since day one. He would just laugh and laugh when Sandy gave him kisses. I think Sandy equally if not more enjoyed having him around.
5. We got home last night a little before 2am when we should have gotten home at 11pm. Make a long story short my flight from OKC to Chicago was cancelled. So I hopped on a flight to St. Louis with only 10 minutes to catch my flight to Chicago. I made it it but my bags didn't. I landed in Chicago to find out my 1 hr layover turned into a 3 hour layover. My little buddy was a trooper and surprisingly really good considering all he was going through. I just love that boy of mine:)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. He didn't eat dinner one night and we decided to follow what the doctor said about teaching him then you go hungry. Well, we were up with Austin until 10pm that night because he was starving and would not fall asleep. We gave in and let him have a bowl of cereal. He was out within 5min of eating it.
2. Threw up all over in the car again. On the bright side we know how to take apart the car seat to clean it! Downside- he ended up doing it again in his crib. I think it was bad milk that I had bought that day because he showed no signs of being sick and once we threw the milk away and got a new gallon he was abosolutey ok.
3. We took him to the Iowa State Fair and he was into the animals more this year than last but still didn't show the enthusiasm as we had expected. He did pet a cow and a little calf but it took a lot of courage.
4. He did better in nursery this time and we might try leaving him by him self in the next 2 weeks.
5. He had his BAER hearing test done in Monday and it went okay. I didn't want to do it but the doctor said it was a good idea...whatever. They gave him oral medication that makes you extremely tired in 20min and then you have about and hour once they fall asleep to do the test. Thankfully everything worked as planned and we were able to get it done. Austin does have probelms with his left ear with hearing lower frequencies but they won't do anything about unless it gets worse. So we will have him tested again in 6months but he won't have to be sedated. I guess it gave us a peace of mind kinda...except now I have to be worried about his speech!

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. We got a second opinion on his side pony tail because the doctor and I didn't feel good about having an MRI on it at this point. Thankfully the second opinion doctor agreed! And I actually saw this doctor's face instead of the backside like last time.
2. Wouldn't eat a donut, which is odd because I am sure he has a device in his had that tells what is good or not. But on the note he won't eat much of anything lately.
3. I am trying to get him use to going to the Y again and the poor kid cries when he sees the building now. I am pretty determined that he just either get use to it or he'll just cry for an hour while I am gone...
(Am I to mean?)
4. Nursery would be great if he liked it and didn't cry the whole time too. So after the first day the teacher told me she couldn't handle his crying and that we need to be in there with him...
Ya that sent me threw the the roof!
I might as well be the nursery leader at this point.
5. Went to the hot air balloon festival and he loved all the balls? At least that's what he mainly called them, a few times he'd call them the correct thing. There also was a train doing rides so of course we swallowed the $2 cost and took our choo choo loving boy for a ride. I can't count how many times he said choo choo and waved at everyone.
6. We got free Netflix for a month and now he thinks our tv is only for choo choo's... It will be hard transition when we lose it.
(Sorry no pictures...doing this on the iPad because our computer is getting fixed again, also my reason for not blogging along with being gone for the whole summer)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. went through a horrible week of diarrhea and a red bum. We went through about 60 diapers in less then a week. He showed no signs on anything so the nurse just told us to make sure he is drinking and if doesn't stop in a few days to bring him in, thankfully it stopped.
2. learned some new animals sounds! we now have cow, pig, snake, kitty, and sheep.
3. he finally does "pound it" consistently
4. when he gives me a kiss goodnight he pulls out his binky, too cute
5. we are 1 month away from nursery my friends!!!!
6. so tired one day that he fell asleep in Dad's lap holding his balloon from Walmart

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. Dad is home all the time and this little boy is in heaven! So is his mom!
2. Went to the ENT- ear tube is not clogged anymore but still failed the hearing test on his left side...so now we will have a more intensive hearing test done at the end of the summer at the children's hospital. Not what we wanted to hear but again the doctor told us that even if he doesn't have great hearing on one side but normal hearing on the other it wont delay him in anything. That was kinda comforting and we also know we have much to be grateful for that it is just that.
3. We also had another appt with the dermatologist for his "side ponytail". It is never great if the doctor looks at you and says "interesting" followed by the nurse saying she has never heard the doctor say that term he just diagnosed your kid with. He then tells us he needs to go read up on it in a book and will be right back. We left with an order for an MRI. The MRI is all precautionary but most one year olds don't hold still and they put them to sleep, ugh. But again grateful we have the resources and that he is a healthy kid with just a few bumps along the way. We know our situation is nothing compared to others...just hard to take in when you think your child is perfect.
4. New word is "ba ball"- he always said ball but now he knows it is a basketball
5. Went to Nauvoo over the weekend and he was that best toddler the whole trip

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. Says "uh oh" in the right way, so dang cute!
2. Gave himself a hair wash with yogurt one day... This independence of feeding himself is sure turning out to be messy.
3. Had a hearing appt and failed in his left ear but they say it because the tube is clogged...has appt with the ENT next week to fix it.
4. Ran into the wall on Sunday and then the door on Monday, it is a good thing he has such a hard head and a tuff body.
5. Super fast, I am sure I have some track meets in my future I will be watching. I am pretty sure that is why he runs into everything all the time. Only has one speed...fast.
6. Also thinks he is big. We can't go to the playground at our complex anymore unless we plan on him trying to play basketball with the older kids. Thankfully, the kids are nice and respectful and will let him have the ball once in awhile so he can shoot. He goes after any ball, quite the rebounder we have! When we tell him it is time to go or try to get him to go down the slide he throws a fit. I wish their was such a thing as a basketball team for1 year olds because Austin would love it! Also he knows the church has a hoop......crazy kid!

No pictures for awhile...our desktop is shipped off to never neverland:(

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. has no fear- fell off the playground and was on it the next day(I swear I watch him!)
before Austin walked out the door he wanted his hat to be like dad-such twins

2. was wearing a romper outfit and some how took off his really dirty diaper. I was sitting on the couch and Gary went to check on "quiet" Austin. Gary comes out to living room holding the dirty diaper yellling, "Why does Austin have an open dirty diaper?" I of course of have no idea and wondering if I didn't throw an old one away but I am positive I did. I got into the bathroom wear Austin is and unbutton him and sure enough there is no diaper and a bear stinky bum. Thankfully, that is the end of the story and we threw him into the bath. We still have no idea how he maneuvered it!
3. loves for people to "get him" or tickle him. What makes him laugh is getting chased or wrestled not the tickling.
4. he'll give me a kiss and walk towards the door and wave and say "buh bye". He's a smart little one.
5. decided not to take a nap on Sunday so we went on a drive to see the ducks- unfortunately, he found the portable bathrooms and thought those looked more fun-gross
