Nauvoo in June

Nauvoo:
Gary's brother, Mark and his family, live in Indiana and we wanted to meet up and do something before they moved to Texas. Nauvoo sounded like the easiest and Gary and I hadn't been back there since we were married so we were really looking forward to going. We drove up Friday and came home Sunday after church. We were able to see a few things like the Oxen- it was the highlight of Austin's day, go to a temple session, and visit with family. It was just a really nice weekend that was actually really relaxful. I think a bigger reason was Austin was so easy going and we didn't do any tours that required you stand still for 30min. Maybe one day?- when Austin is older, ha.

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. he hasn't been crying at the Y anymore and one day he told me "Bye"
2. protesting the car seat again- just wants to play in the car and so I have been avoiding going anywhere by myself these days
This was in the grocery store parking lot- after several failed attempts to get him in his car seat I decided to take a breather. Unfortunately, it took several more times and until we finally left after 20min. He wasn't too happy with me but I can say the same about him.
 3. TANTRUMS- I am at a complete lost and thank goodness for naps or I don't think I could have enough patience.
4. got sick and we are on day 5 of a runny nose and a cough that sounds like it might end in throw up
5. went to the library and checked out some Thomas books- he really likes them
6. Eating is getting worst- right now I am more concerned about calories than content
(sorry if this post sounds negative- you have good weeks and sometimes you have some really bad ones)

Tuesday Tidbits

Our computer arrived today so maybe pictures next week if it is really fixed this time.
:Austin:
1. Thomas the Train is officially all we watch. I try to get him to branch out but he will not have anything to do with that non sense.
2. Traveled to OKC for Uncle Kyle's graduation from pilot school and Abby's Blessing. He was an angel. However, we did throw a tantrum when I wouldn't let him run on those movable walk ways in the airport when we were about to board.
3. I was thanking my lucky stars that our mini van we rented had a DVD player, it saved my rear end.  The first thing I did was go to Walmart and buy a Thomas the Train DVD.
4. He finally let s dog play with him! It was the cutest thin watching him and my brother's dog, Sandy, just play and play together. I couldn't believe how fast he adjusted to her....he has been scared of dogs since day one. He would just laugh and laugh when Sandy gave him kisses. I think Sandy equally if not more enjoyed having him around.
5. We got home last night a little before 2am when we should have gotten home at 11pm. Make a long story short my flight from OKC to Chicago was cancelled. So I hopped on a flight to St. Louis with only 10 minutes to catch my flight to Chicago. I made it it but my bags didn't. I landed in Chicago to find out my 1 hr layover turned into a 3 hour layover. My little buddy was a trooper and surprisingly really good considering all he was going through. I just love that boy of mine:)

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. He didn't eat dinner one night and we decided to follow what the doctor said about teaching him then you go hungry. Well, we were up with Austin until 10pm that night because he was starving and would not fall asleep. We gave in and let him have a bowl of cereal. He was out within 5min of eating it.
2. Threw up all over in the car again. On the bright side we know how to take apart the car seat to clean it! Downside- he ended up doing it again in his crib. I think it was bad milk that I had bought that day because he showed no signs of being sick and once we threw the milk away and got a new gallon he was abosolutey ok.
3. We took him to the Iowa State Fair and he was into the animals more this year than last but still didn't show the enthusiasm as we had expected. He did pet a cow and a little calf but it took a lot of courage.
4. He did better in nursery this time and we might try leaving him by him self in the next 2 weeks.
5. He had his BAER hearing test done in Monday and it went okay. I didn't want to do it but the doctor said it was a good idea...whatever. They gave him oral medication that makes you extremely tired in 20min and then you have about and hour once they fall asleep to do the test. Thankfully everything worked as planned and we were able to get it done. Austin does have probelms with his left ear with hearing lower frequencies but they won't do anything about unless it gets worse. So we will have him tested again in 6months but he won't have to be sedated. I guess it gave us a peace of mind kinda...except now I have to be worried about his speech!

Tuesday Tidbits

:Austin:
1. We got a second opinion on his side pony tail because the doctor and I didn't feel good about having an MRI on it at this point. Thankfully the second opinion doctor agreed! And I actually saw this doctor's face instead of the backside like last time.
2. Wouldn't eat a donut, which is odd because I am sure he has a device in his had that tells what is good or not. But on the note he won't eat much of anything lately.
3. I am trying to get him use to going to the Y again and the poor kid cries when he sees the building now. I am pretty determined that he just either get use to it or he'll just cry for an hour while I am gone...
(Am I to mean?)
4. Nursery would be great if he liked it and didn't cry the whole time too. So after the first day the teacher told me she couldn't handle his crying and that we need to be in there with him...
Ya that sent me threw the the roof!
I might as well be the nursery leader at this point.
5. Went to the hot air balloon festival and he loved all the balls? At least that's what he mainly called them, a few times he'd call them the correct thing. There also was a train doing rides so of course we swallowed the $2 cost and took our choo choo loving boy for a ride. I can't count how many times he said choo choo and waved at everyone.
6. We got free Netflix for a month and now he thinks our tv is only for choo choo's... It will be hard transition when we lose it.
(Sorry no pictures...doing this on the iPad because our computer is getting fixed again, also my reason for not blogging along with being gone for the whole summer)
